Dean as Delegator

I don’t know about you, but I always feel as though delegation is one of those practices that deans need to do better. I speak from sad personal experience. As dean (and now as provost), it seems my lot is to get delegated to—from above and below. Is that the price of middle management? Am I the exception? Where do I go wrong? Let’s think about the dean as delegator.
